• Originally, Preparatory Schools sought to ready students for the hard work of collegiate study. The oldest of these schools were the boarding schools of the Northeast, which immersed students in a rigorous course of study that made their alumni the envy of the Ivy League. These days, “Prep School” is more an empty moniker than an urgent mission. Ewald Hall is a return to that evergreen mission in a contemporary context: prepare students for the difficult world ahead through a deeper, wider, and more challenging course of study by wrapping their existing school’s curriculum in a richer, more exploratory context. The intellectual and social benefits of an elite boarding school without ever leaving the nurturing home and community that parents work so hard to cultivate for their children.

  • Standardized tests are inherently predictable. Once you understand this predictability, you can improve your score. If you want to do great things, you’ll need to master the art of testing. Nobody loves exams, but the opportunities that come with great test scores are an embarrassment of riches. Test optional is a coward’s way out, and admissions offices know it. Make your score a feature of your application.

Think about these exams in two ways:

Substance– Every test has a limited range of material

Style– Test makers from each exam construct questions within a certain stylistic framework.

World class tutelage leverages both. We help students understand the full range of the material they will encounter and, just as importantly, the manner and style in which that material will be presented.

Said another way: If you understand the game you're playing and the tendencies of your opponent, you're much more likely to succeed.
